Every loaf we bake carries the weight of a craft we refuse to compromise on.
Artisan breads, delicate pastries, and curated pantry goods — made in small batches, displayed with care, and served from our 7th Street counter to yours.
About Snow Flurries
We started with a single conviction: that the best bread in Lake Charles should come from a place that treats every ingredient like it matters.
Seven years ago, Snow Flurries opened its doors on 7th Street with a small deck, a flour-dusted workbench, and a roster of about a dozen regulars who showed up before the ovens even warmed up. We've grown since then — our sourdough has a waiting list, our pastry case draws people from as far as West Monroe — but the philosophy hasn't shifted an inch.
Every morning, our bakers arrive before dawn. Dough is mixed by hand, rested overnight, shaped with intention, and baked in batches small enough to monitor closely. The result is bread with a crust that cracks when you break it and a crumb that tells the story of patience.
What We Make
Three categories. One standard.
Breads
Sourdough, ciabatta, baguettes, rye, and seasonal specialty loaves — all leavened naturally, baked until the crust sings.
Pastries
Butter croissants flaked to order, pain au chocolat, tarte aux pommes, and rotating seasonal tarts that disappear by noon.
Pantry & Market
Local honey, small-batch preserves, imported olive oils, and carefully selected grocery items that complement what we bake.
Our Process
The craft lives in the details most people never notice.
Long Fermentation
Every loaf rests for a minimum of 18 hours. We don't rush the rise because rushing it changes the flavor, the texture, and the digestibility.
Hand-Shaped, Never Rushed
Our bakers shape each loaf individually. There's no machine that can replicate the tension and feel a practiced hand brings to the dough.
Small Batch, Daily
We bake in limited quantities so nothing sits on the shelf. If it's not fresh, it doesn't make the display.
Locally Sourced When Possible
We partner with Louisiana mills and regional producers wherever we can. It costs more, but the difference is in the loaf.
What People Say
"The sourdough from Snow Flurries is the only bread I buy now. I've tried every bakery in town, and nothing comes close to the crust they get."
"We order their pastries for every family gathering. The croissants arrive warm, and the fruit tarts are always the first thing gone."
"I stopped by for coffee and stayed for an hour. The market section alone is worth the trip — you won't find this selection anywhere else in Southwest Louisiana."
